Addison Park District reinvests in Links & Tees golf facility

Posted

In 2026, the Addison Park District re-invested over $113,000 into the Links & Tees golf facility, located at 900 W. Lake St., which includes a Golf Dome, Par 3 9-hole Golf Course, Driving Range and Putter’s Peak Miniature Golf.

Improvements at the Golf Dome

In March, the district upgraded tables and seating at the Golf Dome by adding custom long tables to accommodate groups, high back stools, and permanent tables at each driving bay. New big screen TVs were also installed to enhance visitors’ experience by streaming live sporting events, including golf tournaments, football games and sports shows.

Branded welcome mats were added to enhance Links & Tees stature as a premier golf facility in the Chicago metropolitan area. New mats were also purchased in preparation for the Dome’s seasonal re-opening, along with 2,250 new range balls.

Transforming the Golf Dome into a cutting-edge destination facility began in 2023 when the district invested in TopTracer digital technology and the infrastructure to accommodate it.  TopTracer, which was installed in 40 bays, allows the user to monitor every ball they hit, as well as play virtual courses all over the world and kid-friendly games, such as Go Fish.

The golfing community’s response to this major renovation has been extraordinary, solidifying the Links & Tees Golf Dome’s position as the leading provider of indoor golfing in DuPage County. In 2027, the district will invest in larger monitors to display the TopTracer application, providing an even better indoor golfing experience.

In addition to facility enhancements, the Dome expanded golf lessons by partnering with USA Junior National Golf Team coached by Jake Thurm, and golf instructor Brendan Doyle who offers private lessons to all ability levels from juniors to seniors.

“We are excited to bring facility enhancements to the Links & Tee campus this year,” said Addison Park District Executive Director Rob Bond.  “Our goal is to provide a comfortable and enjoyable experience for anyone interested in swinging a golf club. At the Dome, we have built a more comfortable environment so people can hang out after playing 18 holes on a TopTracer course and enjoy a beverage or snack while catching the game.”

Golf course upgrades

Last spring, new tee boxes were installed on the Golf Course. At the entrance of the Driving Range, artificial turf on the target greens and shrubs were removed, and the area was seeded and sodded. Path lighting is being added later this fall.

Renovation of Putter’s Peak Miniature Golf

In early October, the district invested in all new turf at Putter’s Peak Miniature Golf and prepped the grounds for major landscaping improvements in spring of 2027.

New putters have also been purchased to enhance the experience.

“Our renovation to Putter’s Peak brings new putting surfaces and some landscaping improvements to all 18 holes,” said Bond. “If the real deal is more your style, we maintain a par 3 9-hole course that provides a variety of holes with clean putting greens to master your short game. Our goal is to provide a memorable experience for everyone from the young child putting for the first time at our mini golf to the veteran player looking to keep their game going year-round.”

Putter’s Peak Miniature Golf is now closed for the season and re-opens the day after Memorial Day in 2027.

“Reinvestment in our current facilities, particularly those that can be used year-round, makes sense fiscally and as service to the taxpayers of Addison. When you maintain what you have, upgrading what you provide is a no-brainer. The Board of Commissioners for the Addison Park District understand our fiduciary responsibility to invest taxpayer dollars wisely,” said Stacey Ruffolo, APD Board President. “Links and Tees is a destination area for Addison residents and many who live outside of our community. It is important that this campus, and all of our public facilities operate and look their best.”

The Golf Dome is now open for the fall/winter/spring season. Operating hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m.-10 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 7 a.m.-10 p.m.

Fees are: $20 per half hour for in-district Addison residents; $25 per half hour for non-district residents. Seniors can take advantage of a discounted rate that runs Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-noon, which is $16 per half hour.
